“He did what he was supposed to do. He did what he was told to do.”
A 58-year-old Florida father died of COVID-19 last month despite being fully vaccinated.
Vincent Konidare, 58, of Palm Beach, died of COVID-19 on September 19 after spending a month in the hospital battling the virus, despite the fact that he had been given the one-dose Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine back in March.
“He did what he was supposed to do,” his wife Jamie told WPBF. “He did what he was told to do. He was trying to protect his family, and he just felt like it was the right thing to do. He felt that if he did get Covid, he would not die, that it would save him.”
Jamie explained that her husband had no preexisting conditions, yet he tested positive for COVID-19 on August 2. At first, he only had a cough at first, but his symptoms soon worsened to the point where he had to be rushed to Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center and put on a ventilator. Doctors eventually told Jamie that Konidare was no longer able to get oxygen through any means.
“They called us and said, ‘You know, we just can’t give him any more oxygen. He’s getting 100%, and he’s failing,’ and at that point, we all went to the hospital, and we got there just in time to say goodbye,” Jaime said.
